Polyresin - your experience?

PahsminaPahsmina6 mese/i faAsk MFC
I am really tempted to put in an order for ITEM #589332, however the material she is made in does scare me a bit. I have heard so many stories where polyresin figures arrive either super damaged, and also stories where they arrive just fine. And since it's the first time for me ordering one I just want to check with you guys about your general experience with it.

Since it's a music box it kinda feels like she will be packed down in some fancy box, and I shoooould be fine as long as I use extra secure shipping through fj, right?

snufkin (5 mese/i fa) #22310903Where will you be buying her, if I may ask?
I'm going to order her straight through the Pokémon center's website through fj as a proxy. They have this buyer's protection plan that includes some more security when it comes to damaged items, plus I can add extra secure shipping when they ship her out.

Pahsmina (5 mese/i fa) #22293596; A ; yeah, since I need to buy her through a proxy I can always ask them for a more secure shipping. And considering that she is exclusive and all I feel like she would come in some sort of elaborate box that might be very protective....
She really is too cute to pass up on, so I think I will take a chance and order her after all.

The only time I ordered a poly-resin figure, it arrived in the mail with a few small parts broken off. It was kinda expensive and I had shipped it EMS. It had a disclaimer on the website ( I had bought it from Ami-Ami) regarding how fragile it was. Suffice to say I haven't purchased another one since then as I just don't like to take the risk.

Bloempje (5 mese/i fa) #22293255I do not own polyresin figures, but i do own polystone and coldcast figures. I also had one candyresin figure (very fragile, it arrived broken) I had one broken polystone in the mail, but that was a manufacturer fault. Everyone who orderd it got the same broken bunny ear. However. I think there is always a risk, especially with some carriers you here some bad stories. Maybe you can ask to secure the box with extra bubblewrap and since it is a polyresin figure it should be in a well protected box. Good luck with it, it is a cute musicbox :)

victorviper (6 mese/i fa) #22282396I own exactly 5 figures made of polystone/resin and two of them suffered some form of damage in shipping. One wasn't packed very well by a US seller (Lumiere's ITEM #12068 arm snapped off), and one other figure had some very minor damage that I was able to repair with some epoxy.
A lot of shops ship such figures with the disclaimer that parts may be damaged during shipping, and that's probably well-founded. I'd definitely go with EMS shipping, as that at least minimizes the number of times the box is going to be getting handled.
On your particular figure, there are a number of potential problem spots which appear prone to possible breakage (the braids, the straps on the bag), so I'd say make sure you're prepared to do some repair if needed.

Yeah, I am especially worried for those fragile lil book pages and the pen. :')
I don't have much experience with repairing figures, since it has not been that much of an issue for me so far, that's why I'm particularly scared for this one....
