Not everything has been smooth lately but one thing in particular has been a really sweet development. I recently got a new job working in a FedEx office. (yeyy) The job provides me with my own little desk and a personal desktop to use for the tasks at hand. Here's a picture. There's another white desk attached to the left of the one the PC is on and it is essentially empty space.

http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m72/Le-kun/c4fffada-a606-4537-b0da-d9c08b7aa3cd_zps8bbc9bd8.jpg

Many of my friends have their own desk at work and sometimes they bring in things that look eye-catching. A part of me believes that someone will damage it eventually but currently in the office, it is just me and my employer. We have been acquaintances for a few years now and I know he's a very proper guy that wouldn't shun me for what I bring to my desk, nor would he touch and fiddle with them.

So I was thinking of bringing two or three figures for my workspace with a bamboo plant for accent. But now you have to think what's actually SFW. (haha Never thought I would have to care about that.)

The first candidates are http://s1.tsuki-board.net/pics/figure/46173.jpg http://s1.tsuki-board.net/pics/figure/117923.jpg http://s1.tsuki-board.net/pics/figure/2472.jpg http://s1.tsuki-board.net/pics/figure/113472.jpg http://s1.tsuki-board.net/pics/figure/61356.jpg http://s1.tsuki-board.net/pics/figure/78586.jpg

Also, I don't have them yet but the Yamato Girls Collection line have a good mature feel to them. A typical Kongiku + Momohime w/any plant is an easy win..

What would you consider a good set of figures to put on a office desk space? What would be a good combo that would make you look forward to sitting down and doing some work?

Update.
I brought in Ryouko and Mirai Suenaga! I only had a chance to read the first two comments before I left for work but it looks like those two were the best choice in such short notice. Mirai Suenaga dawned on my head like a huge "DUH!!" because of all the advertising Danny Choo does with her. I just get the vibe that work should be done when she's around- especially when I put the face from Katou Marika's nendo on her! XD

I will surely be adding the Working! girls to my desk. I will make another post another day with reactions and such if there are any. ^^d Here are some of the pictures of progress!

She looks amazing next to the rocks! I always considered her a tough character and I think the rocks totally compliment that aspect of her. <333

Mirai-chan with her hands on her hips and the angry face is priceless and I intend to find a way to elevate her more so she's looking down on me. OH! I could use those nendo clips, right?! OMG!!

I HAS TWO LARGE SILICON SPHERES ON THE FRONT TO REST YOUR WRIST IN BETWEEN WHILE YOU TYPE. IT IS VERY COMFORTABLE AND AIDS AGAINST CARPAL TUNNEL. IT ALSO HAS ARTWORK ON THE TOP LAYER FOR DECORATION." LOL!!! HE SAID AS LONG AS I'M COMFORTABLE AT THE OFFICE, HE'S COOL WITH IT.

You are my hero.

katsudon6 anno/i fa#2016282I don't have any figurines on my desk at work, mainly because I don't want to run the risk of offending anyone nor violate company policy by bringing in 'sexually suggestive' things.
So instead, I opted for some tokusatsu stuff instead- have my SIC Kiwami Tamashii figures around my two monitors and thinking of bringing in ITEM #136454 and ITEM #144349 and then leaving it at that- don't want TOO many distractions now...
Funny story, one of the SIC figures I have has a wonky right leg and its come off a few times- I put it on top of my computer because my boss wanted to install a new monitor and he knocked it off which 'snapped' the leg in the process- which caused me to yell "EVERYTHING YOU TOUCH DIES" because for a brief second, he legitimately thought he broke it.

WonderWaffle6 anno/i fa#2015861iTheShirt6 anno/i fa#2015820If you want to go with figmas then I would suggest either ITEM #42054, ITEM #153778 or ITEM #153654 can't go wrong with stein's gate and their crazy science projects. Might express your a hardworker albiet maybe crazy lol
ITEM #81488 or ITEM #117991 is popular in the west so many should know about her also might make it easier for clients to talk with you especially the gamers and superhero fans.
Do take something you like rather than feel that it would just fit into the work place

theyasminshow6 anno/i fa#2015907I'd go with Maid Tsuruya and maybe Mikuru to join her. ITEM #6586 ITEM #6587 Ready for work, ready to impress~ :DTHE MAIDS MAY BE TOO FAR ON THE CUTESY SIDE AND MAY BRING EMBARASSMENT TO MY CO-WORKER IF HE WERE ASKED ABOUT THEM. I'M GLAD YOU SAID SOMETHING BECAUSE I CAN PROPERLY THINK ABOUT HIS SITUATION TOO. THE STEINS GATE FIGMA ARE SWEET BUT I CAN'T BRING MYSELF TO BUY THEM. IF THE ENTIRE GANG WERE AVAILABLE THEN MAYBE. MAYBE TACHIBANA HIBIKI... SHE LOOKED LIKE A BATTLE HEROINE AT A GLANCE AND HAD DYNAMIC INTENSE POSES/EXPRESSIONS LIKE TYPICAL WESTERN HEROS. HER AND TSUBASA ARE ANOTHER DYNAMIC DUO! :DDD IF ONLY I COULD BRING IN THOSE KANTAI COLLECTION FIGMA.. D'x

WonderWaffle6 anno/i fa#2015242ITEM #61356 or ITEM #71846 would also probably be good picks. They offer a cheerful image. The Working one looks to express that your ready to serve your clients
Would like to suggest ITEM #178916 but thats only if your willing to order from GSC shop for like 2k-2.3k yen without shipping

I love the symbolism you pointed out. That's a great example! The smaller one is very cute! I don't know anything about Kantai Collection series but I do like what I've seen of it so far.

Riesz6 anno/i fa#2015095I would only bring something you don't mind getting damaged. I personally don't take anything valuable for display at work and instead have some inexpensive but cute Nohohon solar toys on my desk.
If you really want to put a figure on your desk though I'd suggest something fairly small and sturdy. Choose something in a conservative outfit, preferably even where you can't see the panties. I remember reading an article about someone else displaying figures at work and had trouble with coworkers handling the figures then being disturbed by the detailed panties.

OhMyBex076 anno/i fa#2015133I would pick one that's relatively cheap or otherwise expendable (in case it gets broken or stolen) and that portrays a fairly recognizable character so that there's more of a chance that someone who sees it will know where it's from and want to strike up a conversation (yay, new friends!). I would also shy away from figures holding weapons or that are the slightest bit sexually provocative, because you never know who's going to see it and become offended.
Personally, if I wanted to jazz up my workspace, I would stick with those cheap Nintendo toys they sell at Toys R Us. Not many people are going to be offended by a couple of Super Mario figures, they're intended for children so they're not going to be easily damaged, and they're pretty cheap so it's not the end of the world if they get lost or stolen. Also, a lot of people will be able to recognize them, so there's a much better chance of them becoming a conversation piece than if I had a bunch of figures of obscure anime characters (as someone else mentioned, video games are a little more socially acceptable than anime, so there's that too). And I could actually play with them during my lunch breaks or something. :D

Ryouko isn't terribly hard to replace should something happen to her. Nor is Mirai. Momohime and Kongiku on the other hand are a little riskier. But I will wait a while before swapping out. I'll see how the workplace welcomes Ryouko, Popura, Yamada, and Mirai. Building conversations off curiousity for them is a great idea. I didn't think of how naturally that actually happens. My employer was very interested before I left today and he and I laughed about the different figures that I showed as examples for NSFW and SFW. He definitely doesn't mind them but told me sometimes his friend's kids stop in the shop. He said he'd be careful for me if the situation ever arises. I'm not to worried about the social norm as I am the level of maturity that is supposed to be maintained despite my hobby worming it's way in.

EmeraldxDew6 anno/i fa#2015104I don't know if the mecha girls will be any good, cuz people not into anime would just JUDGE so hard. Momohime is a great choice, even my mother thinks she's pretty and mom has a picky taste in beauty.
I surprisingly don't get judged that often anymore. I guess I've managed to drift away from the haters without realizing it. My boss is very appreciative and regards my figures as art and loves it. He doesn't collect but is interested in the stories I have to tell about them.

theyasminshow6 anno/i fa#2015352What might look SFW from a glance might become an issue if someone picks it up and inspects and - oh! panties! or something along those lines. So in that regard most of my figures don't make the cut IMO. That, and people see with their hands a little too often for my tastes.
I'd go with either a poseable like a figma/Figuarts (so it could occupy time in my slow moments) or a prize figure (so no major money loss if something happens). Out of my stuff I'd go with ITEM #154965 - cute, I like to look at her, I'd like to be doing what she's doing right now so let me get this work done. Shakespeare got to get paid, son.
For a combo, ITEM #91199 + ITEM #91200 would look great with a bamboo. For you, I like Stalking's Working!! suggestion :)

That Sonico.. lol Even that's a stretch. I showed my boss and extreme version of NSFW before I left today and we were crackin' up. I told him I had it but I knew what not to bring in. It was Native's Sexual Police. Without her panties. lmao A poseable figma is a good idea. I don't find myself away from the keyboard often but I do have to take a few minutes to stretch my hands from the constant typing and mouse usage. Re-positioning a figma could be a nice distraction. But what's a good figma for the workplace with good symbolism behind it? :D

victorviper6 anno/i fa#2015602Popura seems like a good choices, and your Nendo Mirai seems suitably non-offensive. I would think that Nendoroids in general would be good for displaying at work, as they are generally pretty SFW to begin with, and even more importantly, they're pretty sturdy and will resist breakage.
My office is always a disaster area, so I've never really entertained the idea of bringing any of my figures into the office...

A disaster area?! That's unfortunate! The feeling of having your hobby so close to you while you work is incredible. You really enjoy what you do more often and if you are having a bad day, relief is right there looking at you.

Stalking6 anno/i fa#2015068That's a tough one; I work at home so I can just display whatever, haven't had the chance to work at an office so far but, if I was in your place, and had your collection, I'd probably pick some of these:
ITEM #78586 + ITEM #61356
ITEM #165800 (even if you don't have her yet)
ITEM #98947
From my collection it's hard to pick some SFW figures that I'd be ok taking to work, but I think the chosen ones would be among these
ITEM #94711
ITEM #282
ITEM #134718
ITEM #624
ITEM #618

Ohhh!! I like these! I might bring in the Dragon's Crown girl. I think I'll keep a max of 5 and minimum of 3 figures on display at work- excluding figma and nendos because they can surround my keyboard or be attached to a clip and be suspended in the area. Samurai's way to risky to bring in. I don't even trust myself! lol She's still in her box! If I had like.. 10 of them then maaaaybe.

The Yuri Yuri girls are always welcome in my book. I think they'd draw a lot more questions than general awe simply because they're all shoujo n' stuff.

Chloe-tsundere6 anno/i fa#2015062For you, go with ookami :) or a gaming related figure like persona is good !
Cause gamers are more commonly accepted
For me? Hmm tough i would say my fav louise but nope cause if anything happens or someone tries to be funny.. Im losing it >.<
I guess my 1/4 kokonoe rin she wont break easily :) or snowglobe rin ^^ that one will be easily accepted as snowglobes are common
Or prize winter taiga aisaka also a nice option

I wonder if I could get another gaming related figure.. Oh wait that's right.. They never come out good. The games I like always have crappy figures. Soul Calibur failed hard. Resident Evil looks like colored raisins. There is the Tales Series.. but they aren't that well known. Street Fighter, Marvel, & Capcom have some nice stuff but they cost body parts and heart transplants.

haa I don't think you'd stand losing any of your Louise figures. xD

Thanks so much for the suggestions! It looks like the idea to stick with something replaceable is a solid. The Taneshima Popura and Yamada Aoi mentions are fantastic and I will definitely be putting them on the shelf to the left of my PC screen! I can't wait to get a nice bamboo plant to place in between them!
