I'm over 18
Well, I received my Saenai Heroine no Sodatekata - Kasumigaoka Utaha - 1/7 (Good Smile Company) yesterday while I was at work.

Needless to say, I was very excited to see what she was like in person after all the waiting. She didn't disappoint and has now taken top spot in my school girl theme collection. I can honestly say that only one thing truly has me...well, confused about one aspect of her production design and we'll get to that later. So, lets get into this shall we?

First, the box. It's simple, it's colorful and it draws attention to her no matter where you look on the box. It has a window on the front panel and one on the left panel where you can see the figure itself. There is plenty of graphics of the figure and of the artwork on which it is based as well.

Front;

Left side;

Right side and rear panel;

With the way the box draws immediate attention to her and doesn't let you escape that fact as well as it's simple and pleasant graphics, it's a 10.

The packaging for her is straight up simple and basic. Nothing more than two vacuum form halves that hold her and her base. She comes wrapped with just enough plastic to keep her protected. One nice little thoughtful thing they addressed was simply slipping a small piece of plastic between her legs where they rub. *NOTE* They do rub together easily while working with her so be gentle, especially while attaching her to the base.

In the packaging;

Up close of the plastic around her body;

You will want to be aware, the plastic around her skirt can be a bit of a hassle. Her skirt is removed by removing one of her hands ( at least I could only get one hand off of her ) and then separating the skirt split which is nicely held together with only one simple straight peg. I had to be gentle and pull her other hand/arm far enough out to get the skirt out from under her other hand. Once out, you have to "snake" the plastic cover off of the skirt. It can be a bit tricky because it want's to keep snagging on the skirt.

A close up of the thoughtfully provided plastic between her legs. Just one of those nice little touches;

All her parts laid out during my inspection;

Ohhh, while I'm at it on the fact I wasn't able to get her one hand off....Well, I'll be honest. I didn't use the instructions. Excitement and all that! HOWEVER, the instructions ARE IN BOTH JAPANESE AND ENGLISH! I did notice at least that much when opening the box and scouting it all out..LOL.

I rate the simplicity of the packaging, the attention to simple extras like the little addition of the protection between her legs and how secure they had her for a solid 10.

The simple fact that the instruction came in both Japanese and English gives them a 10 in my book, even though I didn't need them. Anyone who has had a large amount of experience with figures should have no problems with her at all.

The base...Well, to be honest, I'm pleased with it for as simple as it is. It fits the "mood" of the figure. It's got that wonderful soft carpet covering that is so inviting. That's the way the figure comes across...inviting. It's not an "action" base by any means BUT it doesn't have to be and it shouldn't be. She's in the process of either dressing or undressing and so it makes sense to a degree to place her in a "comfortable setting" such as a nice, soft rug. I may be over thinking that but I will give this simple base a 10. It just works elegantly with her and doesn't distract from her at all.

Pose..Well, I think she's got the perfect pose in this sculpt. She looks fantastic and has that somewhat embarrassed look on her face. Yet at the same time, she has almost a Mona Lisa smile...as if she knows something. Perhaps she likes the fact your looking?.....

The overall figure;

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/upload/pictures/2015/11/25/1421891.jpeg

The pose is a very well done, almost perfect capture of the artwork on which it is based. Considering the artwork is done from a perspective looking downward on her, I believe she has been captured very well. I still have to nail her as a 10 on this.

Sculpting. I really really like her sculpt. There are a few things of "nit pick" quality that I noticed. One would be the lack of finger nails. Well, they are there but so non-detailed you really have to look hard to see them. It really is a non-issue. Just something I noticed when removing her hand. The only thing that truly bothers me is the issue of her underwear and how they decided to sculpt them relative to her tights/pantyhose. For some reason, they did it in such a way that it really makes them look like they are on the outside of her hosiery. I don't know why they did....but they did. I personally am not planning on displaying her minus her skirt ( which is the only cast-off feature by the way ). Those that are though will have that very very odd underwear dilemma.

Here's without the skirt;

Here's with;

With the skirt, it's just something you cant see. Besides, in my opinion, she looks very good the way she is with her skirt on. It simply makes the pose that much better. That said, due to the akward nature of the way her underwear seems to be outside of her tights/pantyhose...I have to give her sculpt a 9.

Her paint is very nice. She doesn't have a wide color pallet on her but that is the nature of her character as she is drawn. She looks good though.There is very subtle shading throughout her outfit. From the folds of her jacket and skirt, to her unbuttoned blouse. Her bra shows very very slight color changes. There are color shifts in her hair as well as the red ribbon hanging from her collar. They've even thought to shade areas of her hosiery in such places as around her toes and the reinforcing rings near her thighs. Very nice little touches. Her eyes are big and bright and paired with the blush marks look very good. I can literally on mine, find no defects. No scratches, dings, mold seams,no dust caught in the paint. The stripe on her skirt...flawless. I have to rate the paint a 10.

They also include a nice little card of the original artwork. Something that I simply put back in the box lest I lose or damage it...But great for those who collect such items.

Overall..for enjoyment, she rates a 10 from me. She's climbed straight to the head of the class, front row in the school room of my collection. I'm not at all unhappy with this purchase. I only wish I had better equipment with which to share her with.

Hopefully, this was useful for you all.

One final share.....

your final collection pic.

Anything I can do to help make a decision either for or against a purchase for someone looking at a particular figure. It often helps when all one has to go on is promotional pics and no other sources.

HobbyCentric4 anno/i fa#4973802Yep, makes me scratch my head too. Maybe they were looking for the "Superman effect"?...If that was the case, let Superman wear his tights his way and let the ladies wear their hosiery their way.......Cause his way just ain't doin' it justice for the ladies.

mickeydeerho4 anno/i fa#4973718Awesome review! Enjoyed the details of your review; the photos, and lighting as well, heh >=)
I really got to buy one of those lighting kits off amazon as my cave (room) is too dark for review photos

Thank you for the compliments and you are very welcome for the review.

As to the lighting, it's just good old fashioned sun light with a little assist from the kitchen table lamp, honestly. I too don't have a lighting kit/tent or a good camera. I did a blog post for "Poor folks photo session equipment". If your curious as to my very basic set up, it's here; blog/25184&...

HobbyCentric4 anno/i fa#4950540No, I don't think that was the intent. They are colored as if to be underneath her tights. It's just one of those decisions made along the way of production that makes one wonder "Why'd they do that?".

SureFigures4 anno/i fa#4949817Solid review, thanks for sharing! She looks great apart from the issue you pointed out with her pantsu. It almost seems like they shouldn't have even bothered making her skirt castoff-able. Regardless, her and Tamaki look like they're doing a great job heading the class. Very nice collection!

No problem with the share..anytime.

Thanks for the compliment.

diamondburst194 anno/i fa#4949821Very good review! I just received her today and she is gorgeous! Do not worry, you can only remove one of the hands :)

It's a good thing that I'm not overly aggressive when it comes to things like this. Once her other hand seemed a tad to tight, it was time for me to stop and just proceed carefully down another route.
