[Alter] Momohime - Oironaoshi Review[Alter] Momohime - Oironaoshi ReviewReview

Great Figures, Amazing Service, Fantastic Price!

Hello!

Today's figure to review is
[Alter] Oboro Muramasa - 1/8 Momohime - Oironaoshi

It's a repaint version of the Momohime that came out quite a bit ago.
First of all, I don't have the previous version, so this review will not have any comparison.

Just a personal view before going into the review.
Even before I started collecting figures, there were few figures that I really wanted. Come to think of it, they are all from Alter: Yoko Littener, Clara Clan, and Momohime. Before the announcement of repaint version, I think Momohime had some premium pricing. So I was super excited about the repaint. Not only Alter is doing a reprint, but it is improving some aspects. Whether if the repaint is an improvement or not, I don't know but it was instant preorder. Few months and few delays later, I finally got my hands on it, and BOY, what a gorgeous figure. So here I am, writing this review.

I don't know if this review would interest that many people because you guys probably read a lot of reviews on the previous version already. I would be happy if you guys would still enjoy this post.

Sorry for the long intro. Now onto the review.
Momohime is one of two main characters in a game called Muramasa. I don't remember the story much, but she was just a regular girl but a samurai's spirit took over her body and started to kick-ass, something like that. This is "Princess Peach" who doesn't need saving from Mario.

The figure is typical Alter quality. By that I mean, WOW this figure is really really good. Sculpt detail, Paint job, base, everything near perfect in my opinion. More on these points as I go through the pictures.

Around 40 pictures, so it may take some time to load all the pics. Hope you enjoy.

Here we go~~

Her pose is like how she glides in the game.

https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/701/33318911451_2d96326afe_o.jpg

Very vibrant color. I couldn't capture it that well, but her pink clothes has pearl paint.

https://c1.staticflickr.com/4/3720/32604079424_4e227ae1bb_o.jpg

There are two possible poses you can make with extra parts. One is katana sheathed about to draw and other one is with the sword unsheathed.

https://c1.staticflickr.com/4/3712/33318911211_0f12d2f0f7_o.jpg

Looks good at every angle.
Her shoulder guard has lacquer texter on it, nice contrast to her smooth pearly dress. Shoulder guard is made of soft plastic. So it's little easier to handle without worry of breaking.

https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/723/32604078874_4fab7edfea_o.jpg

Her legs are wrapped in some kind of bandages on top of knee socks. Really like how the loose end of the socks is sculpted.

https://c1.staticflickr.com/4/3875/33318911001_fab30b11e8_o.jpg

thighs. :D :D :D

https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/672/33291480962_70cffe6428_o.jpg

That arm flap (what is it called?) gives dynamic motion to the pose.
Her expression is very stoic. Some times look scary. But blush on her cheeks and cute lip stick balance her looks.

https://c1.staticflickr.com/4/3885/32604077734_e3697d9658_o.jpg

slight close up on her face.
Her white part of the eyes have reddish tint over it. Giving it warmer look? Flower hair pins are well sculpted and well painted. looks like one of those cake decoration, looks yummy.

https://c1.staticflickr.com/4/3791/32604075294_7f1d89746f_o.jpg

comb? hair ornament? is well made. The flower decal is well applied on top of each strand of the comb.

https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/604/33318910831_a12e835129_o.jpg

Back ribbon (Obi?) gives her cute look also, kinda looks like wings, even.

https://c1.staticflickr.com/4/3672/33291480542_e7588b3e3d_o.jpg

Now with the katana unsheathed. There is one gripe I have regarding this part change. To change to this configuration, you have to swap the left arm flap part to another flap part.

https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/720/33318910411_6f48c39360_o.jpg

Because you disassemble the flap part, it leaves parting line that's quite visible. I think this could've achieved with swapping forearm part not the flap part.

https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/709/33318910361_03d82c536f_o.jpg

There is also extra right hand part that doesn't have the sword scabbard ( sheath?). But I never tried that part, sorry.

https://c1.staticflickr.com/3/2841/33318910101_c19eb37866_o.jpg

I have little paint scuff on the katana. Nooooo.

twin pig tail hair has nice volume. Multiple layers flowing.

Face close up.

I am very impressed with the ear sculpt on her. For such a small figure, that ear sculpt is really crazy.

https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/770/33406651086_90b2bde0d4_o.jpg

pink manicures on her nail... but that's not what you are looking at, right?

https://c1.staticflickr.com/4/3737/33318908611_3db760f1d8_o.jpg

Her butt guard? Not protecting much. :D
Again, this is made of soft plastic.

https://c1.staticflickr.com/4/3889/32632864173_ce193dcd88_o.jpg

Yes, I had to take this shot!

https://c1.staticflickr.com/4/3858/32604074614_5074566869_o.jpg

The hand guard has nice sculpt detail in there as well. Oni face? Lion face?

https://c1.staticflickr.com/4/3823/33318908851_96f546955a_o.jpg

The pattern work at the end of the sheath makes it more interesting.

https://c1.staticflickr.com/4/3883/32632862043_5294836bb0_o.jpg

Printing of the flap is well applied.

https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/612/33318906981_18d974b6e4_o.jpg

https://c1.staticflickr.com/4/3851/33291483532_1123af2c1d_o.jpg

Nice straw sculpt of her sandal.

https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/755/33406650096_31ca65b934_o.jpg

I have to give a big praise on the base.
Looks awesome, the water part is clear plastic. Gives very nice light glistening.

https://c1.staticflickr.com/4/3952/33318908311_2de06a0fe5_o.jpg

Another big plus for the base is its small size. Smaller bases make it easier to put on shelf with other figures.

Enough of me talking.
Enjoy rest of the post without me commenting~

Overall, awesome figure.
Except that left arm parting line, flawless figure I think.
Few things I forgot to mention:
-she is quite small. I think even for 1/8th scale, she is small.
-Like other recent Alter figures, her flesh part has that smooth texture.

I am really really happy that Alter put it out again. Now do Yoko!!

I hope you enjoyed reading or just looking at the pictures.

What are your thought on the figure? Good? Bad?

Thank you~

Zestorm3 anno/i fa#19084547Nice review. I've just started muramasa rebirth and I really like it.
Thanks, the game is pretty good, fast action. Just wish it had less back tracking tho.

Does the first one have the pearl paint? You said in the beginning that you don't have the first one so if you don't know the answer I hope someone else does ^_^ I've been thinking about whether or not I should get the first one as well (it's such a nice figure!!)
All I need now is Kizuke ;_;

Thanks. From what I've seen and heard, the first one doesn't have pearl paint.

partisanx_3 anno/i fa#19025258[...]However, there are two things keeping me away from buying her, one is money and second one is... there is something about the eyes that I just can't get over? This is the one thing that I prefer in the older version. They are more striking there, I feel? I don't know whether it's because of the lighter color or what but here they make the face look kinda meh, without personality? Though it might be just me. I also don't like the red in the eyes, the figure has already so much pink and the pink in the eyes wasn't really necessary and it looks a bit awkward, I feel. I still love the figure to bits though and your review made me think more highly of it, I just wonder if I will be able to get over the eyes if I decide to purchase it.[...]
Thanks. After posting this, I looked at some pictures of the original. The repaint version totally changed the eyes. Alter changed not only the paint but the whole design for the eye is changed. I do understand your point. The original one has more focus in her eyes, where the repaint is more faded (almost reminds me of yandere look).

T-dawg3 anno/i fa#19030196Thanks! Awesome and very detailed review!
Now you made me get her! I kinda love/hate you at the moment. :p

Thanks, hopefully you will love me more in the end after you get her in your hand. :D

Thanks for the review! I actually found it quite useful as I am in the same situation as you. Ever since I saw the Alter's figure of her 3 years ago it was one of my dream figures but I wasn't sure if the repaint will look quite as good. Your review convinced me that it looks even better than I expected, I really love the warmer colors on this version much more than the ones used on the previous figure (which I loved to bits till I saw the repaint). Your pictures are also great quality and you can really appreciate all the colors on the pictures with the black background.

However, there are two things keeping me away from buying her, one is money and second one is... there is something about the eyes that I just can't get over? This is the one thing that I prefer in the older version. They are more striking there, I feel? I don't know whether it's because of the lighter color or what but here they make the face look kinda meh, without personality? Though it might be just me. I also really love how they made the box lighter as opposed to the previous one, rather than re-using the old one.

Ceci3 anno/i fa#19011952Great review!
Mine arrived today. Enjoy adding their to the collection and looking forward to the others as well. Unfortunately, mine got a paint scuff on the hair comb but I can live with that since you only really see it up close.

Thanks.
Finding paint scuff is always a bummer. I am kinda lucky in a way that my scuff mark doesn't show in sheathed state, which is the pose I prefer.

gunplaman3 anno/i fa#19002790Just get her~~ :p More of Momohime can't hurt.
So, the repaint more closely resembles the game illustration colors, it sounds like. It should be a reason enough. :D

Haha I wish, but my wallet and the space I have left say otherwise unfortunately :P
Perhaps one day though~
