WanderingWastrel (18 giorno/i fa) #26680747It's not the worst I've come across, but it wasn't cheap. They protect the hell out of it, though, which explains most of the expense.

Thank you. I hope it wont be more than 20-40$. I already added it into my cart it was 116$ on estimated price i haven't checked out it. Thanks, this post was really helpful for me. I would love the ikea detolf for me, but unfortunately i don't have enough space in my room. So i had to stick with shelfs then add some acrylic cases but i love them. ✌️

WanderingWastrel (18 giorno/i fa) #26661729If by customize you mean, did I go to the site metioned, www.casesforcol... and tell them what size I wanted, and then get that size, then yes, I got a custom size case.
My experience was just fine; they created the case within days, shipped it to me in protective cardboard (they know how to bend cardboard around any size case to protect it in shipping), and it arrived fine. It's a sturdy case, and I've been using several of them for years.

jamegas (18 giorno/i fa) #26659651Hi! I'm looking for almost the same dimensions for an acrylic case. I'm just wondering if you were able to customize your own? And how was your experience? Thanks!

WanderingWastrel (5 mese/i fa) #21348061Yes, it's an expensive option, because they build each case to your specified measurements. Keep in mind that what they offer as a basic display case is an acrylic black base (or wooden base if you like) with an acrylic shell of all one piece that fits on top of it. They do offer cases with doors if that's what will work best for you.
I've gotten five cases from them, all the basic "acrylic shell that sits on the base" type, as well as one display case with a door and shelves inside for smaller objects.
Eh, pics are thousands of words and all that, so here's a couple of quick (horrible) pics of one of the cases I bought from them:

(one with flash on and one with it off, so you can see the case itself in at least one of them) This case here is about 9 inches deep, 16 inches wide, and 10 inches high.
I can't stress enough that having cases built to your specifications is more expensive than just getting an already made case that will work "well enough". Also, I bought cases like this when I was just starting collecting, because I thought I would just buy a few figures and then stop. (pause for violent laughter from all the readers) Later on, I realized that with additional figures, the large display cases like the ones from Ikea are far more cost efficient. I'm only going on and on about this in case (puns always intended) it will prevent someone making the same mistake I did.
    Anyway, I hope this helps.
Taskie13 (5 mese/i fa) #21478298Thank you everyone for your input and help, it's pretty devastating how much acrylic cases or glass even, are for such a simple and not really large size these cases are! I really like how custom and light the cases WanderingWastrel linked and has, but for the size im looking for which isn't small more large in length like I said, its really just way to much (more than the figure generally) to spend when I could go with a cheap glass fish tank that's honestly the same function! So ya, I found a perfect if not really close fish tank size for 1/3 the price that ima gonna go with, only downside I see atm is its weight since it's glass, but nothen extreme I think in that category still.

Taskie13 (5 mese/i fa) #21351310Thanks for the images to get an idea how they look / built, I like how its just all one piece (king of da pirates!) and easy to remove / put on the base it seems. Ya I really would love to get another detolf if that were both an option of a close store and room for something that size vs this route!
Yes it is easy to remove and put back on. If you look close you can see there's a 'lip' around the rim of the base, so that the clear cover sits on the rim and can't slide off. But if you'd like more info, please PM me, as I don't want to turn your post into an advertisement. :)

Taskie13 (5 mese/i fa) #21346985Im tryn to keep the measurements really close to that length to get the maximum amount of figures in it for the space I have ya know? I am probably going to use www.casesforcol... as they literally have so many custom sizes I think it will work, its def a lot more then I wanted to spend tho for that size a case, its around 140.00 I think shipped to me, now @WanderingWastrel you said you ordered from there already but did you get a case like what im looking for because i'm curious if these come pre built as well for how much they cost?
