So let's say that you wish to meet and talk with other figurine collectors worldwide. I have managed to meet only one collector in the city that I am in but that is not for the lack of trying to find other collectors out there. We have 2 anime shops in town and they do pretty good business but they also sell bootlegs which is why I no longer go to them anymore. I want the original product.
to me an anime shop was the perfect setting I thought to see other collectors browse the isle and strike up a conversation on a figurine they were admiring. That never happened not even once. I took Japanese classes and once again it was to better understand the amine's I was watching and honestly the culture and everything Japan seemed to be oozing itself into me. Japan trip you bet one day. Just hope I don't die before I get a chance to go.
Back to classes I thought once more that I could thus meet people that were not only interested in Amine and Japan but in figurines. It turns out that I had a great time learning Japanese but I never even met one collector in the classes that I attended. As of late I created an anime related FB account to meet people that were interested in figurine collecting. I met a lot of people interested in Smart dolls 1/3 scale doll with cool clothes options and great designers behind her concept. shop.smartdoll....

That culture I am finding multiple people that have FB accounts and are willing to talk about their dolls. I personally do not own one nor do I plan to but it is nice to see an active community. Maybe it's me not knowing where to turn to seek out figurine collectors that would like to talk once in a while to fellow collectors. I keep seeing a chat button on here on MFC but it's never been active. If it were I would be a full time resident in there chatting away with fellow collectors. Maybe it's me my wife keeps on telling me that I think like only 1 % of the population. Maybe I am wrong for wanting to talk about something that I am passionate about.
Do you the reader wish you could talk about your collecting to other collectors ?
Do you prefer just reading about and taking pictures of your figurines?
If someone did try to initiate a conversation about figurine would you feel comfortable in chatting with them or would you be shy about it? Remember we are talking about people that are in either anime shops or anywhere else that could lead to a conversation starting about figurines with ease. A Con is another good example.
Last question where do you chat about your collection?]
I look forward to comments below oh and if you are not shy I linked my anime FB account on my profile drop in and say hello will be a pleasure to chat with fellow collectors.

It's always so sad when I fangirl about a new release and my non-collecting friends can't relate. Lol
Every time that a company is going to launch a new pre-order for a statue, you know that you will see many people gathered in the official company group. Quite fun to see the live opinions of people who like and will order the statue, or the criticism about the colors, size, the dynamism. For example, F4F or Figurama official groups are very active.
Absolutely. I have always been interested in making friends and discussing my hobbies with those who share it or are of a similar mind. However, I tend to be pretty anti-social and mostly end up preferring to just keep to myself. When it comes to collecting, I actually don't know anyone around me who does so despite living in a very large city, and it does not help that shops dealing with anime, figurines and collecting are not all that common. Also it is often a hobby that is still frowned upon, and any attempts to converse about the subject oftentimes devolve into derogatory comments about why one would bother to collect stuff like this instead of actually discussing the collection and the franchises it is based upon itself.

I enjoy reading about them. I am not much for taking pictures of them. Maybe someday if I ever get things set up the way I would like to.

I have no idea. I would probably be a bit reluctant since I would not understand their motives. That being said, if I felt comfortable with them and could strike some common ground, I would be fine with it. It is usually easier to run into me online for the most part though. There is a comic shop near me that caters to some of it, but most of the talk that I do find within it, revolves around comics themselves, and I am long since burned out on comics from years ago.
Last question where do you chat about your collection?
I don't. But that does not mean I won't start at some point.
But for me I'm sort of a niche collector because I can't find many other collectors who share the same figure lines, or even anime, I'm into.
Most that I've met IRL seem to only collect because it's a fad and they're just following it until the next thing.
You do a lot of collection which is great.
As far as figurines go I think it is a stigma that most people will push on you that create some of the anxiety. We should not own items like this or that , why do we waist our money on this or that. Then you begin to not talk about your passion for anime figurines. Then it become to the point where you may hide the fact that you buy them.
You are clearly not there but still I can see this scenario happening to others that are more introverts.
