Previous BLOG #41528

Greetings! I have now chosen my character/artwork and FINALLY got my polymer clay after 2 weeks of headaches with the shipping.

This work is going to be based on Sakimichan’s Luna Mei artwork as seen in my previous blog.

Here’s a preview of the Chibified blueprint I developed!

Most excitingly! Here is a WIP of the first 2 hours of sculpting!

It took me a while to get the gist of things but it’s pretty simple. At least more than I thought. Mind you, this head is hardly complete. Got a lot of fine tuning to do.

After everything is all sculpted and baked, I will be going over it with Games Workshop Citadel Paint after a bit of white primer.

If all goes well I may enjoy a new hobby. :D maybe sell my technique a little.

What do you guys think?

I had to start again so it’ll look different. I’ll give an update once I get the head done again.

Wasn’t happy with how I was doing the body lol.

unRyo (11 giorno/i fa) #45087666Looking good so far.
When working with Sculpey, you can bake and rebake to an extent. This is the method I prefer over simply building up the figure completely in clay and baking it in a single shot. I find that working fully in uncured clay to be wholly unsatisfying: it's difficult to get finer details or sculpt a completely flat and smooth surface. Once you work on one side, you flip it over to find that your hand crushed the other side. Just buy some liquid Sculpey and use that to adhere new clay to baked stuff.
I find that working in clay simply takes patience more than anything. If you keep going at it and refine it, I think pretty much anyone has the capacity to make their own figure.

Yeah plus you risk it cracking
