Second hand waifus deserve a second chance at laifu!

One out of a series.

It happens often with me that I find myself interested in a single character that I love in a series. Some may relate to this statement while others may not. Here is where I am going with this. My Detolds are usually very well organized and I set up with collection of series in mind as shown in the picture below.

Now like most people I did buy figurines that were of interest when I was going through the growing fazes of collecting and I bought figurines on that fact I liked the character but maybe not the series or franchise that character came from.

For those figurines I have set up a separate Klingsbo with 5 shelves for them. But the collection in that stand looks chaotic no theme no rhyme or reason.

There are a few figurines that I have seen on pre-order that are of interest for this year but again I am talking about a single character in a series that I like.

I know I won't buy the series just the one so how do you collectors display these one of a kind figurines in your collection? Do you generally miss an match all series together and just do not give a damm as to how the outlook is. To you displaying the characters is what it is all about.

Kurumi from Date a Live is my favorite character of the show but as I am not going to own a tone of Kurumi's or figurines from the franchise how do you display this one piece... She stands out with her color and pose.

I look forward to hearing your thoughts and ideals when it comes to posing and displaying figurines that are somewhat oddballs in your collection. If you have pics by all means add them into the comments. A picture is worth a 1000 words as they say.

My collection mostly consists of R-18 / NSFW stuff from Skytube, Native and the likes ... and many of these figures are either original characters or from some Doujinshi cover. This makes it fairly hard to group figures together, since there really is no common source.

I try to group figures by theme (e.g. school girl, fantasy warrior, bunny costume) or sometimes by pose. For the rest I try to match the scale at least... and try to fit figures as best I can, aesthetically, so that no figures are completely hidden behind others and the figures can be viewed from an angle, that suits the figure's pose.

I usually go by theme. Theme can be line related such as all figmas together or similar shows. By similar I mean both Sword Art Online and Log Horizon are MMORPG/gaming themed shows so I don't feel bad or weird by putting them together.

Just wanted to say excellent collection of To Love-Ru and Rosario + Vampire figures! :)
Those Rosario + Vampire SEGAs are priced pretty crazily, let alone the scales!

Love all the response. Anyone got more pictures of their odd balls in their collections?

Aside from the other suggestions here, maybe fit oddball figures in by their "mood." All the cheeky figurines could go together.

I usually go by colour schemes and scale.

I group my "oddball" figures on a "best fit basis", as in how they best fit together in their limited space on a shelf by shelf basis.

I grouped my shelves by show/theme. I only have one detolf-sized bookshelf to keep my figures and books on, and so I have my figures organized based on things on that shelf.

For example, I have ITEM #549415 and ITEM #549419 displayed in front of my school notebooks and textbooks that I don't use anymore because their look fits the theme.

Also, I collect playing cards so I have figure ITEM #464608 in front of my playing card collection.

Yes I feel you. I used to keep them in a similar height range. I tried to either do that or keep the same theme of fantasy going in one shot normally. And if I couldn't they would be standalone.

I don't like Date A Live but that Kurumi figure is rich. D:

hm, our detolf is pretty random sorted lol and the others as well, just looking a bit at the size ... just one part is sorted in "lewd" and the rest is normal xD
