Displaying Trading CardsDisplaying Trading Cards

AlorenAloren2 mese/i faDiary
You may or may not know by reading some of my articles or even taking a glance at my profile, but I love Naruto. And with loving Naruto comes buying trading cards. A lot of them. See here:

So yeah, as you can see there's quite a bit. And those are old pictures too. My card/bromide collection has grown by tenfold since then.
I've wondered for the longest time how I could display them. I'm not too into the idea of putting them in a binder. I mean, it's good for space and all and probably very convenient, but I want to be able to see them and appreciate the artwork on them all the time.

As you can see in a few of the pictures above with the Kabuto cards, I taped them all up on my shelf wall and put the remaining on the floor of the shelf. I loved the look of it, so today I wanted to dedicate another shelf to a character that I love dearly. You guessed it, I was clearing up a shelf for Deidara (。♥‿♥。)

While I was planning out the placement for all the merchandise, I realized that I had a frame sitting around that I was planning on using for a print of some kind. That gave me the magnificent idea of putting my cards there! I actually planned on putting only cards (because I had more than enough to fill it with cards alone), but I decided I wanted to add some larger centerpiece(s) as well. That was definitely an option.

Enter, more Dei merch!

After playing around with the placement in the frame, I decided to make the animation cel the centerpiece with some cards surrounding it. While I really wanted to frame the clear file and the illustration card, I wanted the merchandise to strictly feature one character only. Gotta have that dedication for the husbando I guess XD

So first, I took out the backing of the frame and set up what I wanted everything to look like. I drew out a border in black marker because my frame has a white border where I knew nothing would be seen.

Next I put in a background so that in the inevitable case that the frame's backing would show between the merchandise, it wouldn't show the ugly cardboard.

To keep everything in place, I first put all the cards in sleeves to keep them from getting damaged, and then I just taped them to the background. For the cards in the hard sleeves, I used poster strips as they were heavier and more prone to falling.

As for the cel in the middle, I never took it out of the plastic, so all I had to do was use some poster strip pieces to keep it in place.

And done ❣

I'm pretty happy with how it turned out, and it didn't take long either! Maybe an hour and a bit? Definitely less time consuming than an ita bag XD The only troubles I had with it, was the first time I tested if everything was taped on correctly, a couple cards fell out of their slips (because I forgot to tape them shut -.-) so I had to open it up again which was annoying, but not too big of an inconvenience.

I hope you didn't find my little babble too boring haha, just thought it was a fun way to display little things like this.

solluxcaptor (2 mese/i fa) #64147058I love this! I just have all of my cards in binders, but I'd love to display some this way.
Thanks a lot! Really happy you enjoyed ^^ Also, I've seen some pictures of your YGO cards in binders in some of your blogs and they look really nice!
Belle_Reve (2 mese/i fa) #64147070It's a nice idea, definitely not practical for me as I own probably ~15-20k cards lol
Thanks ^^ Aha pretty massive collection you've got then!
Wario54 (2 mese/i fa) #64147234Cool idea, it turned out really nice! I only have a few trading cards but I have a ton of clear files (probably close to 100 now) and I just keep the majority of them in storage folders and go through them from time to time. Not very creative but it works for me! :)
Many thanks :D That's cool too! It's like a mini art gallery that way haha.
