Hello all; welcome to a new article.

I'm awaiting four scores coming back from my AP classes' exams, as well as looking at colleges I'm interested in; considering what I want to pursue and major in. I'm entertaining the plan of putting on a track suit and making play with some eighteen-wheelers, only to be killed and transported to another world so as collect members of a harem. Sounds good to me!

All jokes aside, real life comes at one quick. I'm stressed on those ends, but what better way to calm down a bit than drink coffee, have some sea-salt caramel ice cream, and thank the stars that college will give me fair pickings for people to be sarcastic towards keep my head up while anime gasping about all the debt I may soon incur enjoying my last summer? Afterwards, it will be "hasta la vista" to the US south and onto a new chapter.

In the time I've been eating said ice cream and drinking said coffee, I've been thinking about the summer that those of us in the Northern Hemisphere are in. And so I come to you with the question; what are your favorite summertime figures? What makes them your favorites? What elements of figures (ice cream, flowers, matsuri, etc.) do you hope to see more often?

My favorite summertime figures...

My favorite summertime figures are Kadokawa's light novel swimsuit versions of the main trio of Konosuba girls. Each one has its own charm, its own subtleties, and compliments the others.

Darkness' blush makes for a good expression that fits her character. It's minor, but melting ice cream and the rush to finish it are summer life; a small, chaotic race against time. The flowers in her hair give beauty and peace to the figure, despite a flustered adorableness, creating a divide between presentation and personality, which shows a lot on beach trips in fiction. Her outfit is simple, displaying her gravitation towards the humble, away from the flamboyant. Overall, sealing the deal on this one are the delicious looking ice cream and flowers. Ice cream is momentary, and with the flowers on her blonde hair, they make for a delicate look.

Aqua's large white bow brings innocence to the figure, while her shades give her characteristic sass and a look of power, befitting a goddess. With a lack of glitz and allure, they're sunglasses you might buy while at the seashore, for practicality, or the ones you've owned for years that you don't mind losing, but somehow never do. Or if you're like me, you consider them as great-looking. It always seems like buying sunglasses at the beach is either something one has planned for the entire day, or decides two seconds before the purchase. Anyways, more like men's sunglasses, they tone down a cute swimsuit, which would have been overboard otherwise and a stereotypical ideal of looking 100% like a fashion maven. That's not to say I don't love swimsuit figures that are moe and moe only, but I just prefer figures like Aqua, not because they're like real-life, but since they have little subversive details for an anime figure. Dark, plain sunglasses are for both bubbly and reserved people, is my conclusion.

Still on the topic of Aqua, her berry-blue hair reminds me of the sweet and decadent foods sold at piers, such as cotton candy and sodas, as well as the brightly painted rides along with them. It is also like calm ocean waters. A very vivid blue shade for both relaxation and zeal. Her bracelets and scrunchie show she isn't planning on swimming at the moment, and is instead enjoying the dry land. Such small details let a scene play out in one's mind, of Aqua telling Kazuma to watch after her accessories, only for a seagull to steal them! It characterizes her as someone who is insistent on looking fantastic for the beach in any way possible. That type always takes so much time to get ready!

Megumin's frilly and colorful bikini fits her eccentric and light-hearted personality; she's just so cute. Her outfit isn't too busy, and is tamed by a cover-up. I've never found the previous Megumin swimsuit figures as anything but sub-par in design. They played up the crimson-demon facet of her too much, and the sexiness they attempted with posing wasn't for me. However, here it's a realistic day at the beach, playing volleyball. She's a sweet girl, and the swimsuit shows it with bows, a romantic pink, and lively yellow. The contrast works well. Yellow can be seen on a lot of her design, so her original look is still being honored. The cover-up must be nice, after leaving cold water. I always feel pretty cozy in a nice towel, and so I'm sure Megumin does too, bringing a theme of warmth to the figure that isn't due to the sun. I just like how casual and un-flashy, but cute coverups are, and I wish more figures had them.

While not a figure that has any traditional summer-ness, Revolve's Holo scale (ITEM #525327) is a toned-down depiction of the warm season, its nature, nostalgia, and indulgence.

In a field of fresh, crisp grass, Holo dances while enjoying a cup of ale/beer. It's a scene that feels nostalgic and familiar, yet distant. Summer has small luxuries, such as a field alive with life, like the one Holo stands in. Her cups' spilling gives the image of crashing waves, but here, it is just a rowdy wolf girl pampering herself to the fullest extent! Toothy grin and flowing aqua dress, she has spirited elegance that finds its place in the summertime. Her attire shows she has an eye for knowing what will create outward beauty, but it is incomplete without a smile. A smile greedy for alcohol, a nice breeze, and scheming a twirl to catch the eyes of human men, plus Lawrence. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The element of summer I have not seen as a part of any figure is:

Fireworks on Figures

The American Fourth of July recently passed, and like many, I've always loved how beautiful fireworks are. Japanese holidays and festivals/matsuri also have them to celebrate, with anime episodes often dedicated to them. It would be complex, and far from perfect, but plastic fireworks to decorate figures would be amazing. But I don't think it would be feasible. Just wanted to mention the concept though, since it can't hurt.

Nature beach figures

And as for something besides fireworks, I'd like to see beach figures with nature, such as crabs on a base of sand, or reeds/tall grass, maybe some large insects on the ground. Water colored something besides blue, due to a sunset, would be cool, especially with a seabird floating/standing in it. Water snakes, perhaps would be a cool addition. Or flowers. Snacks are an essential at the beach, but rarely do beach figures have anything like chips or a soda bottle. Maybe it's more American to have processed foods you've brought from home on the beach?

So, that concludes today's article. I'm trying to become less formal in my writing, as well as post blogs on here more frequently, considering how rarely I did so before. I'm having homemade pizza in a few hours, and then some more ice cream, so my day is going very well in my book, haha. Anyways, thanks for reading, and have a good one.

Those are 2 interesting names for her boobs :^)

In all seriousness, that is a great summertime figure and I need it, right now. It's time to hunt xD

I like your ideas so much! Could do without insects though. I’m terrified of them!

My favourite summer figures are a few. I love the design of the three Kadokawa KonoSuba figures. I’ve ordered two of them but I don’t have them yet so I’ll skip them.

I really love Revolve’s Kogitsune (ITEM #501860) because it’s so beautifully made. Every episode of this anime that has him in it makes me cry. As for the summery design, it’s the outfit, the base, and the objects in his hands that stand out. I have the limited version so I don’t display him with his summer hat. I display him shielding himself from summer rain with a big leaf! I also think Alter’s Natsume from the same anime (ITEM #27630) is a summery figure for the same reasons.

Two other summer favourites from my collection are Phat’s Io (ITEM #330765) and Koto’s Tamamo (ITEM #547393). Both are bikini figures but they look very animated. You can feel summer vibes from them. The Tamamo surprised me quite a lot because of how well-made it is. I don’t expect that kind of high quality from Koto so it was a pleasant surprise!

Cloudberry2 mese/i fa#80247047(‐^▽^‐)this is a fun read! You definitely have an endless amount imagination and creativity that always wows me.
I don't have any summertime figures but I totally love the fireworks concept; I would love to see a character wear a yukata outfit (with those wooden flats of course) and she is squatting while playing with a senko hanabi, a traditional Japanese sparkler, and has a facial expression of awe and amazement.

Thank you!

That sounds like a great idea, not enough figures convey awe. Sparklers could definitly be sculpted, I think.

Rikoei2 mese/i fa#80215483Nice figure picks I agree with those and I live in Canada but we get weather like california(we live right near it so we get California’s desert winds it’s quit nice)
So I get to experience the warmth unlike most of Canada

That sounds like some beautiful weather, must be nice! Summer figures won't be out of place then.

galablue2 mese/i fa#80209918You should design figures lol. You always have these really good ideas. Like, how did they not do "stone" Dr. Stone figures?!

I just want any Dr. Stone scale figure.T^T How does Senkuu not have a scale yet?

But for OP, I'm particular to yukata figures. I'm looking forward to ITEM #872760, ITEM #872883, and ITEM #997234. It's too bad these release in the fall/winter though. I really like that fireworks idea though. That would be really cool and go well with all these yukata figures lol.

I don't think I own any summer figures YET, but I love me a yukata figure ... it's so beautiful. I am eagerly looking forward to the konosuba figures ITEM #851338 ITEM #851339 (and of course darkness but for some reason I didn't press tab on her lol). I'm also looking forward to seeing ITEM #946211 and ITEM #946212 in kimono, but I think that Rin's looks more like a winter kimono to me. Also can't wait for ITEM #872951 hehe.

Cantisama2 mese/i fa#80209400Here's a figure with a firework (a sparkler counts, right?): ITEM #127106
My favorite kind of summer figures are related to festivals. I like Kotobukiya's Rei ITEM #27675 the most in that category of my collection (big Evangelion fan + it's based on a beautiful illustration). Revolve's Rem ITEM #676190 looks great as well.
As far as swimsuit figures go, I give the win in my collection to Kotobukiya's Tamamo no Mae ITEM #547393
Congrats on finishing HS and AP testing :3

Thank you for the comment. I'm not finished high school just yet, still have my senior year to go, but thanks. :)
I always forget about that Rem somehow, even though her colors are so nice. The fish is pretty cool on it too.
