Male Characters with the most goods entriesMale Characters with the most goods entriesMisc

Completely random... I just started to check how many goods entries some male characters have. To my surprise, Dazai and Chuuya from BSD have a lot of entries - I knew BSD is very popular in Asia especially among the goods collectors (mainly gals cough cough), but I didn't think it's (somewhat) popular in the English fandom as well.

My anime/manga coverage is very narrow. I'm not sure who I should check but here are a few characters I checked:

Dazai (Bungou Stray Dogs): 2933
Katsuki Yuuri (Yuri on Ice): 2918
Chuuya (Bungou Stray Dogs): 2242
Gilgamesh (Fate): 1783
Midoriya (Boku no Here): 1634
Nanase Haru (Free): 1587 by Voronarara
Levi (Shingeki no Kyojin): 1557
Luffy (One Piece): 1535
Eren Yeager (Shingeki no Kyojin): 1494
Tanjirou (Kimetsu no Yaiba): 1488
Hinata (Haikkyu): 1448

If you know some big ones I missed _(:з」∠)_

giyunosakedaikon18 giorno/i fa#8043892560s!!! I thought they look somewhat familiar but wasnt quite sure if they were the same thing lmao. As for Gintama for my region, its sorta in the same era as Naruto and One Piece [...]
Yup! They were created by Akatsuka Fujio, who had made a lot of gag manga for several decades. Some his most popular works were Osomatsu-kun, Himitsu no Akko-chan, and Tensai Bakabon (which all of these have had several anime adaptations).
It is kinda surprising that Naruto doesn't have that many goods given how long the series has been around (it looks like he has more figures that Gintoki though!).

chiffonpeach18 giorno/i fa#80438923Agreed, adding entries can be time consuming as well as researching the data. Plus sometimes it's hard to track down data for some items. I know we can upload entries as drafts but there's some info that's required (such as manufacturer). There are some items I want to add but I'm still trying to research the info plus find the time to get around to adding them. :'D
Ah I didn't even think about Gintoki! Gintama has been around for quite a while and is popular, so I think it makes sense. As for the Sextuplets, while they have been around since the '60s most of the merch is from the -san series which got very popular (S1's blu-ray/DVD's were constantly topping the charts and there were collabs left and right((they still do just not quite as often)). Recently it got greenlit for S3 so there will probably be even more merch lol.

As for Gintama for my region, its sorta in the same era as Naruto and One Piece (as far as I can recall) but for some reason Naruto doesnt have many entries? Op is still on-going and staying somewhat strong so Im not totally shocked to see more there. But Gintama... Ig its much more popular than I realized XD

giyunosakedaikon18 giorno/i fa#80438851Yeah totally. I dont expect any series to have complete or even close to complete database here. Its just way too much to add ><
Im kinda curious why there's very thin interest in adding otome game entries. I meant goods are goods? Also surprised to see Gintama and Matsuno with so many entries.

SebastianLover18 giorno/i fa#80438868I was hoping my boy Sebastian would at least be in the top 5, but with a mere 1042 goods and 36 figures, he's not even close.T^T

Time to add more my friend! >< My boi only has 800+ entries and I probably added more than half of those...

noctisity18 giorno/i fa#80438862Otome is fairly niche compared to other genres and don't release merch as frequently. There's probably not enough people who like the genre (on MFC) who think it's worth adding the items to the database, especially since, with the exception of a few franchises, they generally don't have any figures which is a central part of MFC.
Nowadays, a lot of otome games are mobile apps which tend to not release goods through standard methods. They either sell through exclusive, less known sites or use limited events/stores, making it difficult for overseas fans to obtain. This then makes it difficult to track down official sales information unless you're on top of the news.

Makes sense! I also noticed that a huge chunk of non-standard released goods (not only for otome games) are missing from the database probably for the stated reason. I was adding the Kimetsu Narita airport collabo goods and wanted to check BSD Narita collabo for reference. Shockingly I can't find the items (maybe Im just blind though). It was a very "huge" collaboration since the illustrations and goods were top tier (also the resales was going crazy lol)

Adamska18 giorno/i fa#80438781There is actually a ranking page for entries by total number of items:
entries.php?mod...
chiffonpeach18 giorno/i fa#80438794Each of the Matsuno sextuplets have over 2,000+ entries as well.
One thing though of course is that there are items that are probably going to be missing for characters, what with some series getting multiple lottery and cafe collabs. And some of those collabs will have various items (as in coaster, buttons, keychains, acrylic stands, etc but sometimes only one or a few of those types are added in the database). Taking the Sextuplets I mentioned for example, some of the brothers have more entries than the others even though when new merch is released it usually includes all of them.
noctisity18 giorno/i fa#80438831Ittoki Otoya from Uta no Prince-sama (ENTRY #2719) - 1,667 items
(Along with all other Utapri characters have 1k+ items)
Nanase Riku from Idolish7 (ENTRY #88794) - 1,354 items
(Along with the other characters from Idolish7/TRIGGER groups have 1k+ items)
I was thinking Ensemble Stars and Touken Ranbu, being other huge joseimuke franchises would have close to 1k items as well, but it ranged around ~600 items for Enstars characters I looked up and around 400 or less for Tkrb (Mikazuki of course having the most ENTRY #78306 at 467 since he's the face of the game).
Semi-related note, although otome franchises are pretty much all male characters, they're are not going to have many listings on MFC even though technically there are tons of goods for it because there just isn't a whole lot of interest in adding it. (The exception would be Utapri because it did not market itself as an otome for a LONG time, sort of returning to its roots last year.)
Other big names:
Sakata Gintoki from Gintama (ENTRY #2526) - 2,238 items
Hijikata Toushirou from Gintama (ENTRY #2400) - 1,651 items

Oh whoa! Thank you! This is very informative - my jaw dropped seeing how many doujinshi (media? I assume most are doujinshi) are there for Katsuki.
