There's an 18+ figure that I've had my eye on for a very long time, and I saw one pop up at a decent price ... but the thing is, I don't live by myself. I have my own room where I have my own collection, but my family often comes into my room. Everything is PG that I have, but I really think this figure is beautiful and I don't really think it's sexual, more like a "cheeky" 18+. She has a cast off feature but can be displayed with her top on, but still has some suggestive themes with her accessories.

I'm pretty sure my dad would be 100 percent fine with me owning an 18+ figure, and regardless I am 24 (lol) so I'm allowed to do what I want, but does anyone else struggle with displaying 18+ figures around family or friends? Do you eventually get over this, or is this something you always think about? I legit was thinking of buying her and just storing her in my closet, but what good is that?

Anyway, any advice on displaying 18+ figures around family and friends would be helpful.

EDIT: Thanks for all the good advice everyone. Someone else actually got the figure before me I think (the seller never responded to me but the add has been removed after being there for a while lol), but I'm going to keep my eye out!

Alright, let me just give some super experienced advice on this matter (xD...)

Do you have a piece of decor that's always standing in your room? Maybe something like a bookcase with a shelf right next to it (yes I realize this would be unusual lol)? Position the 18+ figure right next to the side of that. This way, you get to see it but other people wouldn't be able to depending on the angle they're looking from, and then they'd have to move to a very specific angle to actually see it in its 'full glory'.

I used to have this desk I worked behind often, against the left wall, with a buncha stuff standing behind me so the whole left side was inaccessible unless you'd be seated behind said desk. The lewd figures were set up at the top left with other decorations, a TV screen etc. on the right side of that which made the figures unnoticable to visitors since they'd always be standing or seated somewhere on the right side. If something big is being used as the view block on the right side it'll create shadows covering said 18+ figures, so install a small light there to solve that.

I'm old af (late 20's) and live just with my bf that being said we still have family come over often so I generally display all my cast-offs with clothing on and have no visibly nude figures. Some are still quite risque but no one's really cared. I guess because I'm an adult and we don't have children at the house ever that could see them.

I think if you want her you should go for it.

I live with my parents but honestly I don't really have a problem if they don't like my 18+ figures. They're in my room where nobody but me has to see them so it's whatever. My parents give me a funny look when they notice a new one but other than that they don't really bother me about it.

galablue1 mese/i fa#81429435OMG! What a moment that must have been. I can only imagine. Working at home has its benefits, but one of the draw backs is definitely having your coworkers see into your personal life a little more than they should lol.
Hey, at least they also got to admire the Detolf lighting setup! :)

I once stop collecting because my parents are against my interests.

Now I moved out, I'm all in to NSFW!!!

A wardrobe is a good place to store and hide NSFW figs if you're living with family.

At least your coworkers didn't get a nice view of these during a video conference call (don't normally do video via Teams and accidentally enabled it that one time)

Sure your relations would be fine with that particular figure (not like it's taking a carrot in the butt or something along those more risque lines)

Personally, I don't own many 18+ figures, and if I paid displaying them any mind at my age, I would be a 魔法使い. Scratch that, a 大賢者!

Only you might judge how your parents would react, of course, but I don't believe that it is going to be a problem. You're old enough and unless there are many underage kids visiting your room on a regular basis, there should be no issues with how you want to decorate your room. Also, the figure is really cute and not that explicit (except for the squid maybe XD).

I've got quite a lot of explicit 18+ figures by now and I just don't care anymore. Most visitors are either curious and we talk a bit about the figure collecting hobby or they don't really care at all. My father sometimes jokingly refers to them as "porn dolls" when he sees them, but never in an ill manner. If anything, most people are more worried about the amount of money spent on "useless" plastic figures instead of the 18+ aspect.

e.g. my current display of NSFW Skytube figures:

Don't think about it too much. I'm sure a lot of people won't even recognize it amongst other figures. Whenever I have friends or family over they don't really care about it. I think the most people who aren't into the hobby just take a quick look. So I think as long as you don't display it in the middle of the room for everyone to see at all times, you should be fine. :D I have 6 cast off / 18+ figures in my collection right now, a lot of the "normal" figures wear about the same amount of clothing though. I bought the figures because I liked the design, not because of the cast off option. I display all but 2 fully clothed. I display ITEM #487914 topless because the top doesn't fit very well and I display ITEM #604781 in all her glory because (to me) she's just a piece of art.

Before Covid I had quite a few people coming to my place, because I got a recording studio in my apartment. The most of them - I'd say about 2/3 - we're people I didn't know before. None of them cared.

Haha. Mine are proudly showing their uncovered mounds of Venus in our living room to everyone who wants to see them. And also everyone who doesn't. :D
