Hello guys, its Leo again with a second review ;;

Today I'm going to review a prize figure, why? BECAUSE I NEVER SEE PRIZE FIGURE REVIEWS, either that or I am blind (also I'm procrastinating LOL)

Also trying to figure out how to format my reviews nicely :> (sorry for some of the MASSIVE photos ;; )

Today we're going to look at Banpresto's Puella Magi Madoka Magika Akemi Homura DX prize figure!

I got mine from mandarake new for just 1000yen!

Homura was one of my first prize figures and now that I have more I can sort of compare a little better~

PACKAGING

Since this is a prize figure there isnt much to the box, no windows or panels (although I know sega ones have the clear front)

the colour scheme is rather nice and suits Homura I think and is made from a non-corrugated cardboard. (wont be giving scores since its too hard to score LOL)

Though I have to admit the box is a tiny bit too big, compared to my cure happy banpresto box its just sort of unnecessary ;;

When you open up the box we find the contents have been further secured with a square of corrugated cardboard and its contents wrapped in bubble wrap.

BASE

the base is not amazingly fancy but works for the figure. It could be a TINY bit smaller but thats just me.

I really like how they did all the swirls and fancy patterns with the nice font, I gives the base an elegant touch and makes it look somewhat less cheap XD

THE FIGURE

Homura comes in two pieces, the top half from the waist up and the bottom, the waist down. Its sort of fun to assemble it (I like assembling things LOL) and the two pieces connect very sturdily so wont slip and slide at all.

Now a 360 of the assembled figure!

Banpresto's quality is decent for the price you can get her at, which is why I like prize figures like these. The overall sculpt is great and the pose is in character, also faithful to the anime original.

A few flaws I saw was the face which was overall VERY flat, and just a tiny bump for the nose. Also her lack of mouth made it seem a little more strange I guess.

Some of the painting was also off, see here on the clothing trims also there are quite a few manufacture flaws like small dints and bumps. The lack of small details might be what Stops the figure from feeling 'complete'. The clothes have folds but not majorly realistic and some parts are just very flat.

OVERALL

So I know some people think, prize figures are terrible because they're cheap. Yes I admit the quality isnt as amazing as what big figure companies like Alter and such do, but if you're after something decent quality and decent price I always look at Banpresto's works.

Not to mention banpresto are getting better with every release (please note that Homura WAS realeased at the end of last year). Also Banpresto is releasing another set of PMMM figures that look better than the these :)

Overall Im glad I bought homura and I have madoka as well, I enjoy having her in my collection even though she isnt perfect. If your keen on collecting PMMM figures this will add a nice touch to your collection :)

Cantisama7 anno/i fa#1219701For the money, these are hard to beat. I got the full set (five girls, magical versions only, didn't get the alternate magical version of Homura) for 5000 yen from Mandarake. That's cheaper than a single GSC Madoka figure. If you're low on cash, or if you are late to the Madoka party and most of the GSC set is sold out, these are a nice alternative.

I plan to place this set in front of GSC Godoka.

and sometimes sets of two pop up for about 1800 when I last looked, but I dont think it can get any better than that. The quality is amazing for the price and they look nice altogether :)Super worth it! I always wanted the GSC ones but yup, I was a little late to figure collecting so I missed out ;; Banpresto's newer PMMM set look so temptingg

Raithos7 anno/i fa#1219154Wow the painting on yours sucks, glad mine didn't suffer the same fate.
The bases are too big, its annoying, they can stand on their own but with a lot of them the feet are positioned so closely together usually with one up and one turning sideways or what have you that it can never keep it's balance. This is a decent, cheap prize figure of the wonderful Ms. Akemi, so I can't complain. Good review.

WOW really!? damn I'm unlucky :(
yeah neither Madoka nor Homura can actually stand without the base so I guess itll just have the stay that way :( But for 1000 yes she is a good figure :)

This was actually my first prize figure. :] It has sentimental value to me because it took me a LOT of money to win this in an arcade in Japan when it came out. x.X Damn those rigged machines in Japan. *grumble*

On to the more relevant part of my post, it IS nice to see a review of a prize figure once in awhile since they are so affordable and easily available. They really are worth it for the price you can get them for. :)

I really want the other PMMM prize figures - I keep seeing Mami and passing because I know I'll have to get the rest if I get her.

Ugh so tempted to get the newer Mami one becuase DAT POSE.
But I saw a Mami/Madoka set on mandarake ages ago and was so tempted then I never saw it again so I got madoka by herself LOL

meteorstormed7 anno/i fa#1219162Whoa - if nothing else, that's a really nice base. I've never felt compelled to comment on a base before (or, for that matter, a statue type figure before), but, size aside, the design that that base has going is really nice. Do Banpresto prize figures typically have bases like this, with the name on it and such?

Most of them are just plain circular bases, some of them differ depending on the anime, same with the print on it.Though I know a majority of Banpresto's older prize figs were plain circles with nothing on them. So I the name and design for this base is specific to these PMMM figures :>

About this blog

Recently I've platooned a little on my figure buying since my room is reaching max capacity.
Most purchases are itabag related or small, useless things. I splurge a little on the side but not as much as I used to.
