What are these items known as "character sleeves"?What are these items known as "character sleeves"?Polls

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone can provide some information as to the items described as "character sleeves" (ENTRY #98162)? These listings say 80 sleeves per pack. Are these like cards? If so, what is the point of having 80 cards of the same character? That seems like a lot!

All of this made me really curious to know what they are and how they are used :)

Demigod_Dan8 mese/i fa#106228085That's pretty simple, the higher the popularity of the depicted character on sleeve the higher the demand/price it can command xD some are also comiket exclusive sleeves, only available during that short period, which adds to the demand if the art is good.
You are making me want to just pick up one of these sets for like $20 to see if I can sell them later lol. Even at a $1, it feels like I will walk away with some profit haha.

ddarko8 mese/i fa#106227208Woah, really? One sleeve per $4 rakes in $320 (for a 80 pack I mean). But, I suppose it is difficult to always find a buyer, or no telling which ones will have demand?

Victorsaurus8 mese/i fa#106227098Besides using them to play I collect them (mostly Pokémon) some of us buy a pack and just buy/sell each sleeve for $1. I usually buy them in a Pokémon community but other places would be more expensive like $4 for just 1 sleeve.
You can find people selling individual sleeves or a set of different sleeves on eBay/Mercari.
I recently bought 2 sets on eBay.

ddarko8 mese/i fa#106227006That makes sense now. I suppose if they are used as playing cards, one does want them to have the same uniform image like with the 52 card deck.
Thank you for the reply, and everyone else as well. It makes sense now as to why there is such a high number of sleeves too :)!

ddarko8 mese/i fa#106226997Oh I see. So if I understand right, they are meant to be used as protectors for whatever other actual card collection one has? The idea is that one just wants all those collected cards to have the particular character image on the back?Yeah, exactly!

JSandio8 mese/i fa#106226998In many trading card games you're required to use sleeves on your cards to make them appear as uniform as possible. It also helps their durability during use. And to use sleeves, they need to all be the same, and appropriately sized for the trading card game you intend to use them with.

Chuckyfreak8 mese/i fa#106226995So they're sleeves meant to go over cards you have so the back of all your cards have the same design.
Usually whatever card game you're buying for decides how many sleeves are in a pack.
For example Pokemon you get 60 sleeves in a pack because a deck for the game has 60 cards in it.
tomura8 mese/i fa#106226994theyre connect to ENTRY #25681 so i assume theyre just card protectors with characters printed on them..?
