I recently expanded my storage and am able to open figures I've had in boxes for a long time. Of these, I finally got to open one of the first figures I collected (and the reason I even noticed anime figures to start with), Alter/Vice Motoko ITEM #388

Her face is perfection ^^

I bought this figure unopened many years ago. I ran into two issues though after opening her that I hope MFC can help me with.

1. Shiny, sticky areas around her body:

I believe these came from the thin plastic sheet that are often placed around figures for protecting the paint. She was in the box so long that some of that plastic melted onto her. What should I use to get this off? Water and a microfiber cloth didn't help. I'm not sure what can be used without damaging the figure.

2. Base pegs are too big for foot holes -Solved- Heated feet with hot water.
I'm sure this is a common problem, but I couldn't find the answer. What's the best way to handle this? The figure comes with an instruction sheet that depicts placing the figure on the base, but I can't read Japanese. It seems to be talking about heating the legs and/or feet. Can anyone read this for me please:

Thanks in advance for any advice. Look forward to a big blog post where I show my new storage and reorganization, though it's going to be a while since I have a lot of work left to do.

Heating her feet with hot water before placing on the base worked. Even then it still took a bit of force.

As for the shiny areas, I tried an alcohol-free wet wipe but it didn't help. My dad thinks it can't be removed. Luckily the plastic wrap was only on the back of the figure, so you don't notice it on display. Even when she is turned around, you can only see the shiny areas if you look really close. I'm going to leave her alone now. There's a bigger chance of me causing damage than fixing a minor blemish.

Thanks for the advice everyone! This figure looks absolutely amazing <3

Amidora Nope.
The instructions say that if it's hard to insert the pegs, heat up the grayed area of the feet using hot water (60 ~ 70 Celsius), then try inserting again. (I assume using a hair dryer works as well, but I'm not sure so someone else would have to confirm or deny that)

I would be afraid to file the pegs. The figure comes with a little instruction sheet about putting her on the base (in Japanese, of course). I've added a pic of the instructions above if someone would be kind to translate :3 Seems to describe heating the legs and/or feet.
Don't those contain alcohol? I thought that would hurt the figure.

Best way of dealing with the peg issue is to take a modelling file to them. They'll be inside her feet so it doesn't matter if they're all scuffed up with file marks and it'll make your life a lot easier.

Just be careful to avoid using too much force or making them too thin, I'd recommend checking to see whether they fit after every 5 seconds or so of filing to ensure you get pegs which are not too loose.
