Nendroid Defects?Nendroid Defects?

GrimwoirGrimwoir6 anno/i faAsk MFC
I recently purchased my first ever Nendoroid and Figma at a earlier anime con called Acen, I purchased them directly from the Goodsmile booth so I know neither of them are bootlegs... However, I've noticced a few defects of sorts with the Nendroid.

The items I purchased are

Sakura Miku Nendoroid
Anzu Futaba Figma

The Anzu Figma seems quite fine, haven't noticed any damage or defects as of yet, however her rubber-ish shirt is kinda annoying in posing her and I'd like to know if there's a way to safely remove it so I can use her as a drawing model?

The Nendoroid on the other hand, I've found a few problems with, I originally took her out with her base set up and put her on display, but upon changing her parts, I've found her right alternate leg has 3 dents in the boot, I'm talking actual notice-able dents. Her cherry headbands and ribbon also have a problem, the cherries all come off of the stem which isn't supposed to be that way [Talked with support about that one]. However the third and final problem, that I'm amazed I only just noticed, is that her onigiri is broken and missing on of the hands and corner of it. Like, that part of the onigiri is no where to be found in her packaging and is obviously snapped off. Aside from that, I've noticed a few paint defects here and there.... The main point of this post would be this, are defects like this commonly found on Nendoroids? Or did I just happen to have bad luck here? If it's common, then I'm not too sure I'll be buying anymore.

Not sure if the onigiri is broken.... or not.... It has 1 hand attached to one side of it as a base.... and I have another arm that can fit on the other side.... I'm really, truly lost here... LOL

So my end all be all questions, are these. Are defects like the listed common for Nendoroids? And is there a way to safely remove Anzu's shirt from her without damaging her or the shirt? These are my first ever Nendoroid and Figma, so I don't know how they really work.... LOL

Thank you very much for reading, and any help would be wonderful!

As for bad luck I almost had the same thinking after I got my Gakupo Nendoroid, he had this dot on his right bangs which is a bit noticeable and looking at those flawless images of other Gakupo owners on the net, i was really tempted to do something about it but with the very high risk, I decided to leave it alone until a fool proof technique is devised as I might do more harm than good.

I think is not that too common for pieces to be broken or dent as it is with paint defects usually Japanese made figures are very well made.

I have the Natsutsubaki Miku Nendoroid as well as Meiko petite, Meer Campbell RAH and a Saber Revoltech in which I accidentally scratched a small fraction of her arm armor paint while trying to remove Calibun from her hand, I'm a damn klutz lol; but yeah all of them are fine from the start so please don't give up on Nendoroids so soon, it happens to the best of us... Planning on buying a Megurine Luka Nendoroid in the near future so maybe by then I could confirm my theory about quality.

I don't have Futaba figma yet (I ordered it thru GSC online shop), but Sakura Miku is known to have a couple problems.

I did not pay attention to the onigiri, but, the cherry hair pins broke for me as well. All I did was pick it up and put it on her hair and... snap!
I did not want to bother emailing GSC support and wait 2 weeks for a replacement for something so minor. Really, all you need is super glue and glue it back on. Voila! Nothing melted. Looks good as new, and even stronger/better lol.

I don't think you were just purely unlucky. Some Nendoroids are known to have issues because they all come from the same batch and production line at the time. And then you've got the other Nendoroids that are near perfect.

neL (6 anno/i fa) #1545074The nendoroids I own are perfectly fine, but my Madoka nendoroid has some weird ugly black dots on the yellow portion of her shirt. Sadly, it's already been a year, so I'm pretty sure I can't get a replacement :(
For the figma thing, it actually is possible: picture/632310&...

It may be possible. If I were you I'd contact GSC. I have OCD so if there are ugly yellow stains on my figure I'd go crazy :<
I contacted GSC about Sebastian Nendoroid ITEM #5599 many moons ago and this Nendoroid came out almost 3 years ago. I got the replacement part (face plate) with no issues ^^v

ITEM #73637 & ITEM #104300 were plagued with QC issues. Out of all my nendoroids, I've requested replacement parts for 3 (including the 2 mentioned) +2 petites. The rest were perfect.

I had quite a few mishaps with my Sakura Miku (including broken cherries) so I went straight and asked for replacements from GSC support.

Stalking (6 anno/i fa) #1544390I only even mention issues to GSC if they are quite noticeable and distracting. My Sakura Miku had blue spots all over her hair, and even if in my cabinet it wasn't that noticeable, when I shot her with natural light, I couldn't help but see five dots scattered all over her bangs ;_; Those and some bumps in her ponytails made me go with it and e-mail them about it. What could I possibly lose :P
And as Sarunamirabu said, these things happen UvU if they are like.. quite bad, then I think it's worth contacting them for, but a little flaw or two doesn't kill anybody!

I hadn't even originally thought the cherries would be broken parts, I'd assumed with how flexible GSC made some of their figures that the cherries were just supposed to come off the stem and such. When I messaged them I was hoping to hear that this was the case, and if not how to fix it. I'd never imagined that they'd offer to replace the piece QwQ So I decided to verify other parts weren't broken, to be honest the biggest part that bugs me is her extra right leg. It's dented in multiple places and isn't very fixable.... Aside from that her onigiri has a black spot on the white area that's pretty big, so that bugs me too. But the cherries I'm kinda fine with the coming off personally.

My thoughts exactly xD I guess I'd never imagined that GSC would have quite so many painting errors, or any at all really. But logic goes to say since these things [I think] are partially hand painted, that there are bound to be flaws to a degree.

Grimwoir (6 anno/i fa) #1544301I'd already emailed them about one of the cherries assuming it wasn't broken, but upon learning it was broken I figured I'd give the rest of her a good look-over and see if anything else was mentionable. Sadly I've counted 4-5 items that could need replacing. The others though seem fine.... Aside from like 10-20 paint defects I've noticed, which I just assume is part of buying these things. It's not like a paint-defect is replace-worthy xD

Stalking (6 anno/i fa) #1544243E-mail gsc support about it with pictures of what came damaged and they might send you replacements. They sent me some after I got my Sakura Mikus from them back in March!

sarunamirabu (6 anno/i fa) #1544247Figma: The clothes are not meant to be taken off....there's no way to do what you're mentioning safely ^^;;;;
Nendoroid: Unfortunately these things seem to be more and more common with GSC lately OTL It's not supposed to be common but...yeah. It's not like a NORMAL thing; that's why support gives you replacement parts for these issues. But it's not like, unheard of for this to occur anymore. However a lot of their products /don't/ have defects, so you don't really have to worry about that. Like all my standard Nendoroids have been fine; actually I just got Kirito shipped here recently and he's perfect ^^

No wonder I had such a hard time trying to get Anzu's shirt off xD I spent like 2 hours trying to get her shirt off being as careful as possible, and couldn't do it.

I've determined that a good 4-5 parts are "damaged" enough to request replacements, those being the two cherry hairbands, the cherry ribbon, the alternate right leg that has a few dents, and possibly the large flower she sits in because it has multiple spots where the pain has been nicked off and are kinda like clear/unpainted looking spots. Aside from that I think she's good.

It's also good to hear that it's not too common, because I've been eyeing GSC items for like two years now xD only two weeks ago did I finally get some, and I've got a large list of other ones I'd like to get assuming I don't have bad luck and get a few more damaged ones like this.
