Anime, Figures and Manga For Less!

Low quality?Commenti • Low quality?

Nope. I'm really picky about quality, so I will pass on my favourite characters if the figure has low quality. In fact I don't have a single figure of some of my favourite characters even though figures of them exist.

I have been tempted though. But in the end it's not worth the hassle.

I've considered it, but I know myself too well to think I'd be anything but sour and disappointed if I actually did it. Too much of a stickler for quality.

I buy prizes if I love the sculpt and the quality is acceptable to my standards, I can overlook minor flaws prizes always have. However, if something bugs me in a figure, be it quality or weird pose, broken spine or derpy face, unpleasant colors or whatever else, even minor thing, I pass. I don't buy something I don't like just because there's no other choice.

Yuuuuup.... I do this pretty much all the time, orz...

A lot of my faves are from Pokemon, and the chances of them getting figures are abysmal enough as it is. When I saw N was getting prize figures, I was over the moon--even though I knew they'd be low quality, the fact that he had a figure at ALL was incredible. I ended up getting ITEM #145214 for my birthday that year. And then a while later N got a nendoroid haha... that was the one success story. I'm hoping that Steven gets a nendoroid someday too, because I bought ITEM #392488 and it was nnnnot super high quality... but Steven's my top favorite after N, so I had to buy him.

I've also bought a BUNCH of chibi kyun-charas, just because banpresto is way more likely to churn out prize figures of characters I like than higher-quality companies making nicer ones. ITEM #113295 and ITEM #173035 are examples of ones I've bought happily, knowing that there are no nicer figures planned for them, and likely never will be (still bummed all of Judal's scales got canceled....)

    And finally I bought ITEM #27208, which is actually pretty nice for a trading figure, because it's probably the only space simon figure we'll ever get. ;-;

I'm glad that the selection of figures for collectors with my tastes have been expanding in recent years, but you could say I'm used to taking what I can get, haha. In the end I don't ever really *regret* getting a lower-quality figure, because most of the time I'm just happy to have my faves in physical form!

countless Chopper Prize figure and WCF chibi figures. still the love of my life together with the more detailed ones.

Ironically, the ones which I regret are the more detailed figures which I am still trying to find new owners for them.

My Subway Masters prize figures ITEM #114514 ITEM #114512 are legit one of my favorite sets. I don't see myself ever selling them, just because I love the characters so much! So yeah, I would still buy less than perfect figs if it was of a character I liked.

Rajke (9 mese/i fa) #29196162Personal the Palutena Amiibo is the only one i could find in my collection that doesn't have a decent figure (F4F this could be a big oppurtunity).
I love my Palutena and Robin Amiibos! They both deserve more, but I'm just glad they have anything at all.

I love all of my figures of Hanayo- the prize figures and the scale figures, although I always place the scales as a higher priority. I still really like my prize figure of Kageyama from Haikyuu and would love to get more in that series as apart from the nendoroids there isn't a lot of options so I think it comes down the to value that you have in the character and how much you want a figure of them.

Personally I'm interested in prize figures mostly because they have the most variety! Prize figures are more likely to make outfit changes to a character or use different sylistic variations on face and color(not to mention chibis & scale). Like Hentai_Son says, figures like the EXQ line are a perfect example. So, of course I buy lower-quality figures of my faves.

I think cheaper figures are allowed to get away with more variation and be more 'fun', since that way the risk is lower and if it doesn't sell it's not as bad.

in the end.. I tend to love characters without a lot of figures, I'm picky, and I'm also cheap.

Etna ENTRY #2920 is one of my favorite characters, but all of her figures have some pretty severe issues.

ITEM #314 is of OK quality, but her face is fairly derptacular.

ITEM #5149 is much smaller than its advertised 1/8 scale, and it's a minor miracle that the figure stands at all given its base design.

Surprisingly, Griffon's take ITEM #153 on the character is probably the best Etna figure out there, and even though it has a number of painting errors, it does a pretty good job capturing the essence of the character and it's one of my favorites even though the overall quality is merely OK.
