This is one of those rare occasions where the figure looks better than the original art

It's starting to become bothersome to see sculptor not put any sort of thought into how to hide the obviousness of shoving plastic between the heel and sole with figures these days.

I could see them using clear acrylic and making a big water splash where her foot is, making her look like she's pushing off a wet ground. Extend the splash to support the other knee.

There are always ways to subtly include support pieces without making it blatantly outstanding.

The base is clearly hand painted/ spray painted in the studio and not a final production version. I am hoping at retail it will be more low-key or preferably transparent or opaque.

Drizzyrissy (8 mese/i fa) #37544107As mediocre as the line is, at least Volks had the right idea with ITEM #215164
It’s 2018 and “normalized” figure prices are over 13k now (damn), so these clear poles should never exist

Yes... it's only a proof the design was half-baked and ill-conceived. It's quite a shame because the figure itself is fine. We've seen many figures with more daring poses than don't need post...

That would have been a great idea. It's been successfully done more than once. Over the years, I found out these heel supports are OK when the base is clear acrylic, white or black. The moment it is another color, it really starts to stand out like a sore thumb. Particularly when the color doesn't compliment well the figure... which is the case with Aqua. Imagine a white or black base (without the post), and it would be passable. With the splash it would be gorgeous. Sometimes I feel some creative peoples should start making custom bases that we could order and print in 3D to replace crappy ones from manufacturers.
