A portrait shot done with just simple setup - floor piece and background piece, but made to stand out or look attractive just from mixing the colors and lights right. I knew black color (dress) will look good with sand or wood color and warm colored bulbs, so i took those into account when designing the background piece in terms of what color to paint it. The Chinese style windows are a nightmare to make though.

I was wondering when you might take a shot of this figure (or its original white version.) I still like the white dress better but for this warm shot the black dress fits perfectly.

kevinlowl5 anno/i fa#2950722very nice, i'm getting a tentaclearmada vibe.

Thanks.
Actually TentacleArmada was the person i started learning my photography from - back in the past when i was still using a phone without a dedicated camera. I read his blog posts. He posted a few guides on lighting technique before, and what i did was pretty much imitating and following exactly his recommendations in my own way. Once i got a grasp of things i started modifying things in my own way to differentiate my photos from his, mainly with detailed setups or dioramas when applicable, but Sora isn't suited for an overly complex setup. It depends on the figure. It was reading his blog that jump started my ambitions to get more out of a camera and make a figure look good in photos.

This picture makes me want one of these even though I know nothing about the character o3o. She looks lovely! It must have been hard getting the lighting right because of the black clothing.

alhaibara5 anno/i fa#2949762Oh, Sora strikes back.
This time with more "exposed" - You know what I mean. /gg
On the other note: I really like the composition you made in this photo. It's so hard to get her for a good shot especially with that "kind" of pose and the chair.
Thanks for your hard work and idea.

Thank you. For me i often avoided Chinese dress or Yukata version figures (traditional theme) because trying to make a background to match the theme wasn't easy, the architecture. But for the sake of variety of my photos it is just a matter of time.

My sister suggested i could do shots similar to portraits you see in fashion magazines, and Sora's pose sitting while grabbing her dress is very suitable for it. With that in mind, and getting some references online, this photo is the result.
