Eyeland (7 mese/i fa) #39303003Lake Tahoe is a very famous place for landscape and nights-cape photo-shooting.
The two shots hyper-focus compose is the correct way to do this kind of shooting due to big aperture, but usually when I focus on the sky I took the figure away to take a sky without the figure, and the sky shot would be processed separately before composed with the figure shot.
Your ISO is not enough, for a place with so little light pollution, an F4 lens should use ISO 4000 with 30s exposure at least, I used to use ISO 6400 with my nikkor 16-35/4 lens. You will see more milky way details with higher ISO and less effort you will take in processing.
As for me I never take a star portrait with model facing the camera, also for the sunset portrait, since it is very hard to create a suitable environmental light for her in the wild... I had been trying but still I have not found a good way to do this...

I appreciate you spending the time to critique my work. Thank you very much for the information! I will use it to better my future projects! ヾ(@^▽^@)ノ

EXkurogane (8 mese/i fa) #39271305I haven't had the chance to shoot the night sky for the past 7 months or more. Stupid weather over here all year, too humid and and way too much clouds. It's just how the weather of my country is in general. There was once where the milky way was right there, it's there visible in my test photo, but clouds blocked off over 70% of the sky. Hours of waiting while weather did not change while the earth rotation meant the stars slowly moved on to other angles and directions in the sky as i wait for hours.
For my case, It's just not worth travelling far away from city to get away from light pollution, only to have the weather pointing a middle finger at you every time. Weather forecasts are not necessarily accurate. With the travelling costs incurred but no guaranteed results, I'd rather spend that money on building dioramas.

The time will come. And when it does, I'm sure you'll have something amazing to show for it! ^.^
